Richard Ross and Roberto Lugo will discuss the positive social effects of creative education and its need as part of the reform of the juvenile justice system.
Juvenile In Justice is an interactive artistic project that will participate in the nationally important conversation about juvenile justice and display the positive social effects of creative education and its need as part of the reform of the juvenile justice system. Focused through an exhibition of documentary photographs by Richard Ross and ceramic artwork by Roberto Lugo, a series of public programs will engage audiences in a discussion about juvenile incarceration. Participants in this conversation include at-risk populations in the community and community stakeholders. They will be asked to consider the need for reform within the juvenile justice system in Philadelphia and advocate for the role creative education can play in this reform. In collaboration with the Philadelphia not-for profit Inliquid, Juvenile In Justice will be presented at the Ice Box space of the Crane Building in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and will attract and engage audiences from the surrounding communities as well as other parts of Philadelphia.
